Slip n' Slide

Parker begs to go to the pool every day and most of the time it doesn't happen so we thought she might like a slip n' slide. She LOVES it. She was out there for a couple of hours yesterday and today playing on it.

Dallas just hangs out and laughs at her.

More Weekend Stuff

As you can imagine Hank wasn't up for much the rest of the weekend. We mostly just hung out and enjoyed spending time as a family. And we ate a lot of popsicles in the garage because that's what Parker and Dallas like to do.
She is getting very vocal and will have an absolute fit if you try to eat a popsicle near her without sharing (same with anything in a cup).

Dallas thought being in the ballpit with her sister was the absolute best, she was literally squealing with laughter.

And of course we had to go to the pool even though it wasn't really hot enough out and the water was cold but Parker insisted. I think Dallas is going to be a fish just like her sister.

Tough Mudder SoCal

Hank ran a 10+ mile obstacle course/race today called "Tough Mudder." It was insane. It took him three hours and he was in pain at the finish. This is post race with Dallas sporting the trademark orange "Tough Mudder" headband, everyone was really impressed that a 7 month old ran the course.
This is pre-race on the shuttle bus taking us from the overflow parking to the event location. There were a lot of people wanting to torture themselves so the regular parking filled up quickly.
Here's Hank just prior to starting the race with marking on his forehead displaying his bib/race number with the girls. He has no idea what's coming.
The all important starting point. The announcer there told us that if they didn't think one time around was hard enough they could run it again with a 25 lb kettle bell. Two people had already done it that morning.
People wore a lot of crazy stuff. Or carried crazy stuff, like a dinosaur. Or just didn't wear much at all (which is really crazy because Hank said there was still snow on the mountain, and they did a lot of swimming/being dunked in freezing cold water).
He said a lot of the run was running up the mountain, back down the mountain, and then back up again. While going through obstacles. (This was the wimpy beginning part).
They had stuff like this which you ran over at one point, and then under (squeezing in between the roof and the hay bale).
And a lot of water obstacles.
Like this one where they had to run up a ramp, into the water, under a board in the water, and then pull yourself up and out.
Then run up this hill.
Here's a different view. Men in kilts. Sweet.
Right before the finish line they had these electrified wires set up that you had to run through. Parker and I watched people run through here for two hours. Almost no one got through unscathed. The race wasn't really about time though, they encouraged team work, and it was nice to see when someone really ate it that there was almost always someone else there to help them up.
Here's the post-race picture. Hank had cuts and scraps on his elbows, knees, hands, and belly. He said it was hard but he enjoyed it and would like to do it again next year. I think he's crazy.
10,000 volt electric fence wire + water + Hank = WIPEOUT!
Most of the race was up the mountain where the girls and I didn't venture. Hanks says it was 10 miles of hills, 10-12 ft walls, over-water wire walk, walk the plank 15 ft plunge into freezing cold lake water, logs, barbed wire, more hills, monkey bars while getting sprayed by a fire hose, etc.

Bowsers

We are in serious denial that the Bowsers are leaving us in a couple of weeks. It is really really going to stink. In the mean time we are trying to get lots of time in with them.
We went over to their house for dinner tonight and then had a play date out at the park. Dallas was tired and none to happy when Ally picked her up.
I took my camera with me and had fun playing with settings while trying to get some good pictures of everyone.

Jacob is such a ham, I wish Parker would smile when I asked her to.

7 Months

Dallas is 7 months. Man, time flies!

Dallas is really developing a personality. She loves to sit by herself and play with her toys, especially the piano. She eats almost an entire container of baby food at each meal, with her favorites being the mixed kinds- like pears with oatmeal and cinnamon. She is really super grabby, you can't put anything within 3 feet of her or else she will have it slobbered on before you realize it's gone. And she may walk before she ever rolls over.

Disneyland

Yesterday Hank took off of work so we could go to Disneyland(it's a little intimidating for me to take the two girls there by myself). Our passes have most of the summer blocked out so this was our chance to get one more trip in before that happen.
We had a really good time. Great weather, short lines, lots of fun!

This was the first time we had taken the raft over to Pirate Island. Parker really enjoyed exploring all the caves and going in the tree houses.

Next time Parker wants to go on this ferry for a short ride around Disney.
Dallas carried her rattle ALL day. She wouldn't let go of it.
Dallas was really curious about Pooh, she kept petting him.
Out of the 7 princesses they rotate through every 15-30 minutes we ended up seeing exactly the same three princesses we had already seen. Oh well.

Then we went to Toon Town to see if we could catch any new characters over there but the only one out was Mickey.
So we decided to go back and go on some more rides.
Dallas was so funny to watch on "It's a Small World." She was fascinated by all the lights, sounds, and everything that moved.
Then we went over to Fairy Woods to see who was there.
And got to meet Tinkerbell and Iridessa.
Then we went on the Nemo Submarine.
By then Dallas was DONE but she rallied and was still so good.
So we ate dinner and went on a few more rides before we went home.
And caught Minnie as we were walking out!
