Safari Park

Yesterday the girls and I, Aimee, Ian, and Gabriela piled into the van to meet our friends Megan, Ellie, and Knox at the Safari Park. The first thing we did was go on the carousel(Park's favorite).

Then we went in search of tickets to the butterfly jungle, and saw some cool things along the way like this sand sculpture.

Then we rode the Safari Tram.

And finally got in to see the butterflies.

It was really hot in there.

We had a really fun day.  We realized it is really hard to herd six kids anywhere, but it didn't matter since we weren't on a timetable, and the kids had a lot of fun together.

If your wondering what the marks are on Parker's chin she had a bug bite or something on her chin she wouldn't leave alone so I finally threw a bandaid on it so she would stop scratching it.  She normally can wear the kids bandaids for a few hours without getting a bad reaction but for whatever reason the kind I put on her reacted so badly that within 45 minutes it looked like the edges of the bandaid got cut into her skin. Even when the redness went away she still has those marks.

Student of the Month

This morning I took Park to school and stayed through Chapel so that she could get her "Student of the Month Award."  She isn't feeling good (she has a fever and has slept most of the afternoon), so she wasn't thrilled to sit through chapel, but was really excited to get her award.

They give one to a student in each grade then at the end they took a picture of them all for the local newspaper.

Discovery Center

Thursday my friend Megan and I decided to check out this Discovery Center up by Disneyland.  It ended up being crazy busy with school buses full of children, but we had some quiet moments that were fun too.

Dally really liked the Dora exhibit, she kept feeding the piggy bank money.

Gabriela's dad had surgery that morning so she hung out with us most of the day.

Dally and Knox were hard to keep track of with all the kids running around.

They had a cool star wars exhibit but it cost another $5 per person and none of the kids seemed interested.

They really liked the outdoor dinosaur exhibit though.

Overall it was a pretty fun day, I'm not sure we're going to go again though.  Too far and too crazy.

The Zoo!

After going to the Legoland Aquarium last weekend (and again on Thursday) we realized that Dally is old enough to actually enjoy the animals (and fish) so we decided to go to the zoo this weekend.

Daddy ended up carrying her everywhere so she could see but it was worth it because she would look and say "wooooooooa" at everything. 

Park wanted pictures with every statue we passed (which was a lot).

Dally didn't really care for the goats, she liked everything better from a distance.

As we were walking around the children's zoo we ran into a zoo keeper holding this american alligator.  Apparently she should be 9-10 feet long already (they can get up to 18 ft) but she was owned by drug dealer in San Diego who kept her in a bathroom, didn't give her enough light, and didn't feed her right.  It was interesting to hear him talk about alligators, he said that this kind was once close to being endangered but was brought back semi-easily because you can make eggs be male or female depending on how warm you keep them, so they were able to make enough of both to repopulate.
