Hank is out in the field for a week straight and as soon as he gets out we were planning to come to NY for the 4th of July. I decided I couldn't wait that long, especially with him gone, so I flew up last week. Now that I am around more family who loves my belly, it is hysterical to me how differently everyone reacts to it. Nicki, who has had 3 of her own, comes over and softly says ohhhhh and rubs it gently, almost like its a baby already born. Megan likes to put her hand on my belly to feel her kick, but then when she actually kicks Megs jumps in surprise and takes her hand away. Dave, on the other hand, absolutely refuses to touch it. He will do anything for me(including picking up and setting down my golf ball the entire time we played mini golf), but he will not touch the belly. Cami just thinks its funny to feel her kick, she will sit with her hand on my belly and laugh and make sound effects whenever she feels her move. Devon and Connor are the funniest. The first day Devon and Connor sat on either side of me on the couch watching a movie. Devon would turn to me and ask what he(the baby) was doing. I would remind him that it was a she. Then Connor would turn to me and ask what her name was. I would remind him that it was Parker. Then devon would ask another question about him, then connor would ask again what her name was. It went on like this for about a hour. Now Devon kisses my belly whenever he gets a chance, and Connor always asks if baby parker is sleeping. If she is not he likes to feel her move. He also likes to talk to her, and does the funniest things, like last night he got his face really close to my belly and started growling at her. Why growl? I am not sure, but it was the funniest thing I've ever seen. The other night Dave asked me how I felt, I replied that I was tired, that Parker sucked my energy out like a parasite. Most of the family(those that weren't horrified that I had called my child a parasite) thought that was hysterical. Parker is now being lovingly referred to as the Parkasite. I can't wait to see what her daddy thinks of that when he gets here.
