Medieval Times

Yesterday we went to Medieval Times- none of us had ever been before. Everyone really enjoyed it, including Park.

Although she refused to keep her crown on.

We bought our tickets through the military and were lucky enough to get a free royalty upgrade.

Park got a carnation from our knight- the blue one.

Her favorite part was probably the stuffed horse we bought her. She named it Playdough.

Carlsbad Beach

Saturday we went down to Laura and Gary's for a beach BBQ. They live across the street from the beach, and had lots of yummy food waiting for us.

Gary was nice enough to give Hank and Ry surfing lessons.

Park was happy as a clam to sit and build sand castles.

She won't go near the water, but I can't blame her, it's freezing here.

Zoo

Hank was off on Monday so he and Ry went to Knottsberry Farm for the day. Park and I skipped out because all they really wanted to do was ride the rollercoasters. On Thursday we took advantage of a nice cloudy day and went to the zoo.


We rode the Air Tram for the first time...

Park loved it, plus it is free with my membership, so we are definitely going to have to ride it again.

It dropped us off right by the polar bears.

We spent half the day walking around to different animals...

but then we got tired and decided to hop on the tour bus.

We ended the day with one of the our favorites- the sea lion show.

Actually, one of my favorite parts of the Sea Lion show is that they show how the trainers use house dogs to train their animals. Last time we saw a big white dog that was paired with a Leopard. The dog was a herd dog, and in the wild the leopard is afraid of it. By giving that specific dog breed to the farmers it keeps the leopards away from the livestock, which makes both sides happy- the livestock lives so the farmers let the leopards live. At the zoo they were best friends. This time they had a big wolf paired with a dog. It gave them both a sense of pack, but also helped the wolf become more social. When the wolf is uncomfortable in front of a crowd, or walking around the zoo with buses going by he just looks to the dog and because the dog is ok with it, it helps him to be. Pretty ingenious.

4th Of July

Happy 4th of July! We spent the day hanging out and swimming in the pool. Later on we went to the beach on base to check out the fireworks.

It was crazy busy, but whats the fourth of July without fireworks?

Water Park

On Thursday we took advantage of some seriously discounted tickets and went to the San Diego Fair. Parker really enjoyed getting to see and pet all the animals.

On Friday Ry requested we go to Legoland again, this time with Hank. The boys got to ride all the big kid rides and Park and I did the little kid ones. We also spent a couple of hours in the water park.

Ry

Park on the lazy river. She did it once, but mostly just wanted to go down the slides.

After the water park we rode a few rides all together.

She asked for a picture with him. (see Amy, they have flesh colored bricks but apparently chose to make Harry Potter yellow...)

Pool

Last week we bought Park a life jacket in anticipation of our trip to NY in a few weeks. She has been a crazy woman at the pool since then. Even with it off she thinks she can swim by herself...

Fire

Sunday we saw Toy Story 3 (which was really cute), later that night we made a fire and roasted marshmallows.


Park really liked it I guess, she asked first thing the next morning if we could make another fire.

Monday morning was cloudy and drizzling, plus Legoland was selling Lego Harry Potter early, so we went to Sea Life.

Park touched the star fish for the very first time.

When Legoland opened at 10 we walked over and because of the weather (I guess) there weren't very many people there. We decided to stay and Ry got to ride all the big kid rides without having to wait in line.

That sword is the worst thing I ever bought her.

Ry also went on a few rides with Park.

We also caught this show for the first time. It was pretty cool, it taught the kids about fire safety, but all the actors were gymnast who flipped everywhere and acted goofy.
